With her teaching degree comes heartbreak. Back in Placer she teaches the miners’ children and helps Jennie, a dance hall girl, learn to read. Jennie’s shocking death resolves Laura to work to get the mine owners to help the miners’ families. She enlists the help of Prescott, the handsome manager of the Caribou mine whom she has come to love even though his help might costs him his job and be lost to her.

How Laura and Prescott work together to achieve their goals and Sour Dough again helps them makes an exciting story of love, loss and final success.

“Look there real closely.”

“What in the world do you want, Ransom?”

“You wanted me to tell you why I don’t want you to tell your mother you work for me.

This mirror explains it all.”

Cal pulled away but Ravannel held his Cal’s arm tighter.

“Look at your eyes and look at mine,” Ravannel said. “See we’ve both got these light blue eyes, very rare this color eye. Neither one of your parents have eyes like ours. Both you and I have the same eyes because you’re my son!”

Cal broke Ravannel’s grip on his arm and hit him squarely on the jaw knocking him to the floor. “You’re crazy; that’s nonsense, you damned drunk.”

“It’s true,” Ravannel protested as he rubbed his jaw.

Suddenly Cal put his face in his hands. “Ma, after the plane crashed and I lost my memory I would have this dream. There was a beautiful face smiling at me just beyond my reach. This perfect creature had no body. It was just a face and it drove me wild I couldn’t place who she was or how I knew her.”

Laura turned away. Should I tell him about Al and Cristina? The Doctor said his memory is fragile. I don’t dare shock him now, perhaps later. I wish I knew what I must do!

This is a slider post! Notice the “Custom Fields” below – they are how you customize this slide. Essentially, all you NEED is the following:

1. featured_slide_img

The “featured_slide_img” custom field will allow you to enter a URL to the image of your choosing. Just upload it from the “Add Media” button above this text-editor and grab the File URL from the image. Remember it needs to be 940 x 284 px to fit into the slider.

Some optional things you can add:

2. featured_slide_caption – Quite simply, this field will add a basic text caption to the bottom of your image. No HTML, sorry! This version of the Nivo Slider doesn’t support that yet.

3. featured_slide_destination – Want this slide to link to somewhere? Add your destination URL here.

4. launch_this_in_a_lightbox – Want to launch a lightbox from the slide? Use this one instead of the “featured_slide_destination” and whatever link you put in there will load into a lightbox. Keep in mind there are limitations to this – it’s probably best to just link to images unless you are pretty comfortable with the prettyPhoto slider settings.
